The mission of Jann Freed, PhD, (JannFreed.com) is to continue to learn and share what she is learning with others.  Jann does this through speaking, teaching, and writing as an author, professor, coach, and leadership development and change management consultant with The Genysys Group (www.TheGenysysGroup.com).  Her passion is helping individuals and organizations get from where they are to where they want to be. She likes to say she is the “Dr. Ruth” of second half of life educating people about sage-ing© rather than aging.  As a certified Sage-ing Leader through Sage-ing International, Jann is particularly focused on helping baby boomers make the rest of life the best of life!

One way Jann shares what she is learning is through her monthly podcast series titled Becoming a Sage.  She also shares what she is thinking and learning in Training Magazine and the Business Record.  She is the author of several books and her latest book Leading with Wisdom:  Sage Advice from 100 Experts is based on more than 100 interviews with thought leaders in the field of leadership.  She considers this her “eat, pray, love” book on leadership since she continues to integrate what she learns into her life.

After a 30-year career at Central College, Jann is professor emerita of business management and the former Mark and Kay De Cook Endowed Chair in Leadership and Character Development.  During her tenure, she was department and division chair, served on numerous committees, and acted as Interim Vice-President of Academic Affairs.

Jann is currently on the Planning and Zoning Commission for the city of Des Moines, a Board of Director for Bank Iowa, and on the Executive Committee of Nexus Women’s Executive Alliance.  Jann is actively involved in the leadership at Central Presbyterian Church and a member of the Women United of United Way.
